12 July 1899 Born in Tiffin Ohio SGT Hunt
With that smile on his face, maybe this was the day he got promoted to SGT (23 Oct 1917)!!
12 July 1917 Living in LaPorte, Indiana 
At Fort Wayne, Indiana he enlisted in U.S. Regular ARMY, Medical Corps. He was to be sent to Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.
26 July 1917 Night Train to Ft. Thomas, Kentucky
14 Aug 1917 Transferred to Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas in the 82nd Aero Squadron, A.S.S.C. Regular AMRY ( Three years younger than any soldier there)
29 Aug-4 Sep 1917 Four Letters of Recommendation recieved at the base for him.
23 Oct 1917 Promoted to Sergeant A.S.S.C., Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas.
14 Nov 1917 Transferred to American Propeller Co., Baltimore, MD. In charge of A.S.S.C. Detachments. (While there he applied for Military Aeronautics School.)
8 Apr 1918 Transferred to Kelly Field, San Antonio, TX. Writtem and physical examinations were take for Fort Sam Houston, Houston, TX.
27 Sep 1918 Transferred to School of Military Aeronautics, University of Texas, Austin for aeronautics ground school training. (All officers and enlisted men entered S.M.A. with rank of PFC (Private First Class)
11 Nov 1918 Armistice was signed ending WWI
14 Dec 1918 Graduated School of Military Aeronautics, U of Texas, Austin, TX.
9 Jan 1919 Transferred to Call Field, Wichita Falls, TX for Flight Training.
23 Jan 1919 Transferred to Love Field, Dallas, TX for Flight Training. (Pilot Log Book dated 21 Jan 1919)
18 Mar 1919 Transferred to Ellington Field, Houston, TX for Flight Training. While there he was chosen to play the lead and perform stunts in the movie "Sky-Eye".
3 Jul 1919 Appointed Second Lieutenant, Air Service, Officers Reserve Corps of the Army of the United States.
4 Jul 1919 Oath of Office as 2nd. Lt., A.S.S.R.C. (Aviation Section Signal Reserve Corps.)
22 Aug 1919 Copyright granted for movie "Sky-Eye" LU 14088. Produced in Cooperation with Air Service, U.S. Army.
1 Jan 1920 Release date of movie. Lt. Russell J. Hunt as "Sky-Eye".
While in Reserves he flew the mail for the U.S. Goverment,  Chicago to St. Louis to Denver route.
